DOUBLE DOG TRAIL OPEN

The next new trail, Double Dog, in the Boyne Forest Trail System on the Boyne City property in Evangeline Township is OPEN!! Easiest access is from the brand new 60-space parking lot on Old Horton Bay Rd here: https://goo.gl/maps/NeixmrwnE7mAcFey8 - From the parking lot, follow the gravel access road in the Northeast corner up to the tree line and the start of the trail.

This trail was built professionally by Flowtrack Mountain Bike Trails and is a Beginner / Intermediate level trail that enters and exits the narrow west corridor of the property, on the North and South side of a two track access road. This trail is designed as an experienced beginner to intermediate trail experience that will provide a constantly reversing grade and moderate sinuosity. The trail tread is well-defined by a narrow finished bench cut on hillsides and narrow corridor on flatter ground. The trail has native or non native rock installed in the trail tread, along with Flowtrack Steeltrack steel frame / wood decking features. Further complementing this trail are soil features including larger rollers, natural jumps, and insloped (berm turns).

Double Dog follows the daily-directional system: M-W-Th-Sat = Clockwise riding; Sun-Tu-F = Counter-clockwise. You can connect to the rest of the Boyne Forest Trails via a new, TOMMBA-built trail called Thing 2 which connects to Hog Wild in 2 places. The southern 1/2 of Thing 2 is still under construction but will be completed in the next few weeks. Please respect any/all "Trail Closed" signs.

Since this a very newly constructed trail, please take it easy on the corners and berms. As the trail matures and compacts, these will definitely firm up.
TOMMBA is fundraising to build more amazing trails on the property. To donate, please visit www.tommba.com/donate

PUBLIC INVITED TO SUPPORT AND PARTICIPATE IN THE CAMP DAGGETT KAYAK EVENT ON JULY 17

For thirteen years, Kayak for a Cause on Walloon Lake has brought together paddlers and lovers of the outdoors to share in a fun and unique event that not only showcases the beautiful lake that Camp Daggett calls home, but also helps support a worthy cause. In their 13th year Camp invites participants to join the kayaking team, and take part in this great event with the goal of raising dollars to support the Camp Daggett Adventure Center (CDAC) and its student programs. Please consider supporting this great event, or joining in the fun to paddle around the pristine waters of Walloon Lake on July 17, 2021.

This is a non-competitive one-day event with two routes; one will be a more difficult route starting at 8:00 a.m. and the other will be an easier route that will start at 9:00 a.m. Both teams will start out at Bear Cove Marina and both will end their paddle at the McMurray’s on Indian Garden Road for dinner and a celebration.

The cost to participate in this event is a minimum of $50.00. Kayakers may get support from family, friends, and co-workers to raise dollars to support the Camp Daggett Adventure Center (CDAC). Kayakers can dedicate their pledge/fees to a specific school district, school of their choice or organization serving children and youth. Pledging to a kayaker can easily be done online. For those who wish to donate online, support a particular kayaker or purchase a commemorative dock flag, go to www.campdaggett.org/team-kayak-cause.  To support a particular kayaker, select the dollar amount, and then locate the name of the team member. Select Add to Cart and then follow Pay Pal instructions.

If you prefer, you may call Camp Daggett with a credit card by calling 231-347-9742 or checks can be written to Camp Daggett and mailed to 03001 Church Road, Petoskey, MI 49770.

For more information go to the Camp Daggett Website:  www.campdaggett.org/annual-cause-walloon/

Andrew is their newest agent and team member. Growing up in Petoskey, Andrew spent many summer days working his family’s booth at area farmers’ markets selling organic produce and plants. At the age of 11 or 12, he could be found poring over real estate listings in magazines that he would pick up when he walked around downtown areas on market days. As a Petoskey High School student, Andrew was the recipient of the DECA Business Student of the Year Award, which led to a scholarship to Northwood University where he is on track to receive his BBA/MBA in Business Marketing.

Growing up on a farm with a deep local history, Andrew has had a lifelong appreciation for living and doing business in Northern Michigan. He knows that integrity, honesty and hard work are the keys to building his own legacy in the region. He has an eye for quality, an appreciation for the needs of others, and the skill and desire to put that to work.
