People Fund Grant Applicant Letters of Interest Due Oct. 1
The Great Lakes Energy People Fund is accepting letters of interest and grant applications from non-profit organizations throughout its service area for the fall grant cycle. Letters of interest are due by Oct. 1. If the letter of interest is approved, the applicant can then submit a grant application by Oct. 15. All letters and applications are accepted through an online grant application portal that can be found at gtlakes.com/people-fund.

Since 1999, the People Fund Program has awarded more than $4.6 million in grants to charitable and community organizations to help them better the lives of residents in local communities. The People Fund awarded more than $146,000 in the spring grant cycle this year.
Non-profit organizations that serve communities located in the Great Lakes Energy service area are eligible to apply. More information about the People Fund program, including organization and grant eligibility criteria, and lists of recent grant recipients, is available online at www.gtlakes.com/people-fund.
Letters of interest are due by Oct. 1, with applications due by Oct. 15. Another grant opportunity will be available in April 2025.

NCMC LIBRARY HOSTS “FOUR HUMORS” SHAKESPEARE EXHIBIT
Explore the intersection of literature and early medicine through September 27
PETOSKEY, Mich. — The North Central Michigan College Library announces the opening of the traveling exhibit “And there’s the humor of it!” Shakespeare and the Four Humors, free to the public through September 27. This engaging exhibit explores the relationship between William Shakespeare’s literary genius and the ancient theory of the four bodily humors — blood, yellow bile, black bile, and phlegm — and their profound influence on the author's works and character development.
The exhibit invites visitors of all ages to enjoy a fascinating blend of literature, history, and early medical theory. Visitors can determine their own dominant humor with a temperament test inspired by online psychometric assessments. Participants will also receive exclusive stickers representing each of the four bodily humors, providing a fun and personalized souvenir from their visit.

Time has a way of slipping through our fingers. One moment we’re looking ahead at days, weeks and months stretching out before us, and the next, they’ve all but disappeared in the rearview mirror. It’s odd how days can feel so long in the moment, yet when we look back, months or even years seem to have passed in the blink of an eye. But here at Raven Hill, the time has come! All of our planning and preparation is behind us. Fuller Road closes tomorrow and Raven Hill’s Pop-up Museum opens in the Open Space located before the bridge construction with entrance to the Pop-up Museum on Pearsall Road just past the junction of Fuller and Pearsall! We invite you to visit and check out our museum “under the tents”! For more information, call 231.536.3369 or email info@miravenhill.org
Raven Hill Discovery Center has been at the forefront of educational exhibits in northern Michigan, since its inception in 1992. The new exhibit, Under Michigan & Beyond is dedicated to Tim Leach, co-founder of Raven Hill. “He’s the first guy who taught me anything about rocks and I’ll certainly never forget that.” –Andrew Sasso, Senior Project Geoscientist at Rio Tinto Exploration.

These 2 little guys are Bobby and Zuko. They are boxer puppies who are full of energy! They love to play and cuddle. They seem to like cats, they’re just curious of them. They don’t mind other dogs and they love their people. Bobby is a little more timid in his kennel, but once he comes out he becomes a whole new dog. Zuko is the opposite, where in his kennel he’s not scared at all but once he’s out of it he can be a little more timid. Come check out these little cuties and help them find their forever home!
