Tricia brings a wealth of experience as a business owner, having successfully run ventures both in Ferndale and the store Whimsical Wit, right here in Boyne City. Her entrepreneurial background and strong ties to our area make her the perfect fit to help guide the Chamber and its members toward continued success and innovation.
Tricia is deeply passionate about the Boyne area and looks forward to meeting the members and the community. “I am so excited to get to know our members and learn how we as a Chamber can better support their businesses. INVITATION TO BID– 2024 TREE MAINTENANCE PROJECTS
Sealed bids are now being accepted by the City of Boyne City for the provision of 2024 Tree Maintenance Projects. The City of Boyne City desires to hire a contractor to provide maintenance to trees in various locations in the City. The scope of work includes Removal and Stump Grinding of marked Trees, Tree Trimming/Pruning as required per the contract and Related Miscellaneous Tree Maintenance To be considered, sealed bids must be received at the Boyne City Clerk’s Office, 319 North Lake Street, Boyne City, Michigan, 49712, on Oct. 10, 2024, no later than 1:00 pm; at which time the bids will be opened. NORTH STREET STORM SEWER REPAIRS COMPLETED
Public Works staff have made a permanent fix to the storm water drain pipe at the west end of North Street that has been clogged by the willow tree root. As you may know, this portion of the road has been flooding after heavy rains. That issue is now resolved.

Consumers Energy Sending Electric Lineworkers to Virginia to Restore Power After Hurricane Helene | |
In a press release dated Oct. 1, 2024, Consumers Energy announced they sent around 60 coworkers to Virginia on Wednesday to help those states recover from historic damage caused by Hurricane Helene.
“This hurricane has caused catastrophic damage that has leveled entire communities. Consumers Energy hopes we can contribute and make a difference for so many people in need,” said Chris Laird, Consumers Energy’s vice president of electric operations. “Our lineworkers have trained for conditions like these, and they will work around the clock to help get the lights back on.”
Consumers Energy will send 48 lineworkers – 15 three-person crews three individual service lineworkers, field leaders and others, as well as equipment. They could remain out of state for as long as two weeks.

NCMC CELEBRATES MAJOR MILESTONES IN CATEE PROJECT
Community invited to join hard hat tours and ground blessing ceremony
as college expands healthcare, technology, and skilled trades programs
PETOSKEY, Mich. — North Central Michigan College (NCMC) will host two special events in October to celebrate progress on its $22 million Career and Technical Education Enhancement project (CATEE), which launched in June 2024. The project, which will significantly expand NCMC’s healthcare, manufacturing, and skilled trades programs, focuses on updates to the college’s Health Education and Science Center (HESC) and the development of a state-of-the-art Technology Center.
The first event, CATEE Hard Hat Tours, will take place on Friday, Oct. 4, at 9:30 a.m. in the lobby of the HESC. The event will include a brief presentation on the impact of the CATEE project, followed by tours of the construction site. Brunch will be provided. Attendance is free, but space is limited. Community members are encouraged to RSVP online at https://bit.ly/CATEE-Brunch.
