"A front-row seat to witness and interact with the community's most influential leaders"

Business men and women looking to enhance their leadership skills are encouraged to apply for the Leadership Charlevoix County program. LCC is a comprehensive training experience for community members seeking to play a more active role in leadership and their communities. > Here are some comments from Dan Reynolds, who just completed this year's program: "What I expected was a series of lectures and exercises. What I got was a front-row seat to witness and interact with the community's most influential leaders, a network of resources I will depend on throughout my career, and a new perspective on what it means to be a leader. LCC was influential in both my professional and my personal life. I am grateful for the experience and excited about the doors it has opened." Charlevoix Area Hospital pursues closer ties to Munson Healthcare

The Charlevoix Area Hospital Board of Directors has announced a decision to build on the hospital's current affiliation with Munson Healthcare and pursue a closer relationship. The board voted unanimously to "authorize management to enter into a letter of intent with Munson Healthcare to explore a fuller affiliation agreement without specific detail as to the ultimate structure of such affiliation." The Board agreed strengthening the hospital's relationship with Munson Healthcare could be the most effective way to ensure ongoing hospital success in the changing healthcare environment. Board chair Ruth Hoppe, M.D., said in the face of an uncertain economy, declining reimbursement, increased regulation, and unfunded mandates, many rural community hospitals are struggling to survive. While Charlevoix Area Hospital has remained viable through many of these changes, it is time to take the next step to ensure sustainability for the long term, before being faced with a crisis. COOL GLOVES - One of the secrets of the Boyne Valley Garden Club is the COOL MUD Glove. These gloves are now available at the Chamber of Commerce for $10 a pair. The gloves are ideal for working outdoors in hot, dry weather as these gloves provide an unequaled combination of breathability and comfort. They are meant to be a "second skin" and provide superior grip when working with tools in wet and dry conditions. Machine-washable (line dry), the gloves are designed to keep your hands cool and comfortable all day long. Our members indicate they have found numerous uses for these gloves. Keep a pair in your car, on the boat or as a hostess gift. Show your support for the Garden Club by purchasing a pair of gloves.
