As part of our Club Feature series, we’re excited to highlight Tikobane Boys and Girls Club in Dete, Zimbabwe—an inspiring example of mentorship in action.
Founded in 2021 near Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe, Tikobane provides youth with guidance, education, and access to opportunities that challenge long-standing gender norms and promote conservation. With over 60 members, the club’s mentorship model is helping youth stay in school, build confidence, and imagine brighter futures for themselves and their communities. From shifting perceptions to creating the region’s first youth library, Tikobane is proving that change is possible, and it starts with investing in youth.

What makes a relationship healthy? Youth from Believe Girls Club, Friends of Change Boys Club, and Sungomukoshi Girls Club in Zambia recently explored this important question together. Through interactive sessions led by mentors, participants reflected on the qualities that build strong, respectful relationships—like trust, understanding, and the importance of personal boundaries. Safe spaces allow boys and girls to share openly, listen deeply, and support one another in learning how to form meaningful, balanced connections. We’re proud that our support enables open conversations, made possible by trusted mentors, and helps young people build healthier relationships and stronger communities.

We love connecting with our donor community and offering an opportunity to hear from and engage with the heart of our work. This upcoming call will feature special guests Denice Harvey, a longtime supporter and volunteer, and Nyika Muyambo, a Senior Mentor and key voice in the GSGC network. Denise will be sharing a window into how she became part of the GSGC community, whilst Nyika will share his journey of challenging ideas of manhood that have brought him to his work as a mentor today.
