We adopted Koalas!

Camelot Adopted 4 Koalas for all our dragon ages, see which Koalas our children will be learning about below :)

Anwen is a continued adoption for us, we celebrate this Koala last year after the fires. She received  burns over 90% of her body, in addition to the hands and the feet, she has been recovering slowly but getting more mobile day by day. She loves the daily delivery of fresh leaf!

Jan was found in the middle of the road curled up, lucky enough not to have been hit by a car. Just not feeling well and severely malnourished. Jan was transferred to a 24 hour care facility when he could get better and hopefully join the Joey yard soon with his treatment increasing and his health as well!

Emerald Downs May came to the Koala Hospital with with a very unusual condition for a koala of her age. Her left eye had very advanced glaucoma which is a condition not unusual in koalas but not normally seen in young animals. Poor Emerald Downs Mary must have been involved in some sort of physical trauma - a fall from a tree maybe? Mary is a very gentle easy koala so the decision was made to surgically remove the remaining eye which due to the high ocular pressure would have been causing her considerable pain. As the Koala Hospital has many years' experience in dealing with blind koalas they knew that Mary would cope well (as pictured) with life in captivity.

Baz was a  juvenile koala who had more than likely recently left his mother's home range during the fires. He was found burned by the fires and eventually named after the firefighter that found him. Ruins Way Baz was struggling with recovery from his burns so the Koala Hospital placed Baz in home care with one of their very
experienced carers who gave him 24 hour, 5 star care. His burns injuries slowly healed, his fur began to regrow and Baz finally began to put on weight. He is hoped to be released once all his injuries have gotten better, in the meantime he remains in his new home with lots of love!

Upcoming Events:

Ronald McDonald Walk for Kids

We are excited to share that we will be supporting Mr.Frank (our green dragons co-teacher) and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California by participating in this year's virtual Walk for Kids! We would love for you to join us and help us raise much needed funds for the services they provide for families and children.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California relies on the generosity of the community to create an environment where children and their families embrace life and healing with a sense of compassion, encouragement and joy. This year's Walk for Kids will give us a chance to make a difference for the families in our community while joining thousands of other supporters virtually at a one-of-a-kind celebration. Donations are tax-deductible, and can be made online or via snail mail.
