What a Wonderful Day!

The Respite for All Foundation's 2nd Annual Brain Science Luncheon was a fabulous success, and we can't thank our sponsors and table hosts enough for supporting our goal of sharing the latest in brain science research with the River Region. RFA began this event last year as an opportunity to bring experts to our community to discuss the latest advancements in maintaining brain health, and we were honored that Dr. Marc Milstein could join us in this effort.

Our executive director, Daphne Johnston, is working hard to find next year’s speaker, and we'll keep you informed! We grew from 300 attendees to 500 from the first year to the second, and we hope to double the size of our attendees next year!

A Captivating Presentation

Dr. Marc Milstein, a brain science expert and bestselling author, was our featured speaker this year, and he gave an engaging and informative presentation with action tips for maintaining brain health and lowering the risk of dementia. He specializes in taking the leading scientific research on health and happiness and presenting it in a way that entertains, educates, and empowers his audience to live better – and he certainly proved that ability during our luncheon. He concluded by answering great questions from our attentive audience.

Warren Barrow Recognized

During the luncheon, Board President Lynn Beshear surprised our co-founder, Warren Barrow, with a special designation as Board Member Emeritus. Warren was introduced to the Respite Ministry at FUMC Montgomery when he was a caregiver for his late wife Dolores. After she passed away, he was inspired to take action to share the hope and support that they had received during her time living with dementia. He joined with Daphne in 2018 to establish the Respite for All Foundation to spread the volunteer model of care across the country. We are so thankful to Warren for the groundwork he has laid.
