Hello,

Spring is a time for growing and there are many opportunities to help grow readers across the community. One way to help literacy bloom is through sharing and using our outdoor Little Free Libraries. We owe a big thanks to the WHS Carpentry program for the new builds and updates to our existing Little Free Libraries that you can discover in 5 locations around Winfield. Another opportunity to nurture literacy is highlighted below with information about outdoor classroom library needs at Irving Elementary and promoting the Parents as Teachers' Roll & Read.

Here's to a springtime filled with literary adventures, shared stories, and the simple joy of giving back to our communities.

Tabitha Hogan, Director

Sander Flower (WHS Senior), George Lowe, and Justin Hogan rebuilt and refreshed WPL's 5 Free Little Libraries located across Winfield.

Get Excited for the April 8 Solar Eclipse with this book at our Story Walk

We are gearing up for the Solar Eclipse on April 8! To celebrate (and to learn more about our beloved star, the Sun), we are featuring the book, The Sun Is Kind of a Big Deal by Nick Seluk at our Story Walk at Island Park through April. Next time you're at Island Park for a stroll, a picnic, an event, or to play, pop over to the Story Walk and learn more about the Sun. It's kind of a big deal!

**If you watch the video, we would add- "Check out this book at your library and/or Story Walk!"

Hear from Nick Seluk about his book!

Watch the Eclipse Safely with Free Solar Eclipse Glasses!

Stop by the library to get FREE protective eyewear for viewing the solar eclipse. Solar eclipse glasses will be available beginning April 1 through April 8 while supplies last. Special thanks to The STAR Library Network led by the Space Science Institute’s (SSI) National Center for Interactive Learning (NCIL) for these glasses!

It's important to view the solar eclipse safely. The solar total eclipse occurs Monday, April 8 beginning approximately 12:32 pm and ending approximately 3:04 pm.

Youth Book Club Meets Monday Afternoons

Youth, grades 3-5(ish), are tackling WPL's 2024 Reading Challenge together! We meet every Monday from 4:15 pm - 5:15 pm and read the book together each week. April's challenge is to read "a bestseller in a genre you don't normally read." We thought April would be the perfect month to read the action-packed survival novel Two Degrees by bestselling children's author Alan Gratz. Youth may join the club at any time. Learn more about it here.
