Get a Library Card - It's Easy!

Obtaining a library card is the first step in maximizing all of the resources and services offered by our library. Your library card allows you to access digital videos, eBooks & audiobooks, checkout print books, DVDs and magazines, use the library computers, access print services, and freely reserve and use the meeting rooms.

Recent policy updates have made it even easier to get a library card, here’s a summary that outlines key library card policies:

  • Library cards are free and available to anyone, including those who live outside of our city limits.
  • Children under the age of 14 must have an adult sign off on the library card and take responsibility for use of the library resources.
  • We do not require an ID but proof of address is necessary, which can be an item of mail addressed to the individual, printed checks, city directory, driver's license, or any other form of address verification. If address verification is not possible, the applicant may still get a library card but be limited to checking out 2 physical items at a time.
  • Library cards must be renewed each year to ensure that we have an accurate record for your card information. You can renew in person, over the phone or by text message. After 3 years of non-renewal, the library card and all information related to that card will be deleted from the system.

We're hoping that every Winfield resident and those that live in surrounding areas stop in and get a library card. Library card applications for e-access only are also available online at https://catalog.wpl.org/ - look for the "Sign Up" button.
