Kane ROE Secures $200,000+ Grant for School Violence Prevention Program
The Kane County Regional Office of Education has secured funding as a grant facilitator from the COPS SVPP grants (Community Oriented Policing Services School Violence Prevention Program.) The funds from the grant will go to five districts including West Aurora 129, District 301, District 300, East Aurora 131, and Kaneland 302. The U-46 district in Elgin has also secured funding separately through the grant.
Funds from the grant will provide Stop the Bleed Kits, Reunification Kits, and Comprehensive Site Risk Assessment Planning.
“We are thrilled to receive such great support from the Department of Justice. The safety of our students and districts’ staff is very important to us, and to receive this funding helps give schools the necessary tools to prevent and respond to such incidents,” says Patricia Dal Santo, Regional Superintendent for the Kane County Regional Office of Education. “We are proud to be one of the nine organizations in Illinois to receive funding.”

We have some new (and old) faces at the ROE! We have two people starting new positions.
Alyssa Johnson, previous Administrative Assistant to the Director of Operations and Technology is now the new Administrative Assistant to the Director of Innovative Professional Learning!
Kathryn Lillig will be replacing Alyssa as our new Administrative Assistant to the Director of Operations and Technology. Kathryn comes to us from Pheasant Run, where she previously worked as an Administrative Assistant.

Holocaust Museum Virtual Offerings |

Struggling to find a way to make your mandated Holocaust curriculum more engaging? The Illinois Holocaust Museum and & Education Center in Skokie has a plethora of virtual offerings targeted at grades 6 & up, including synchronous and asynchronous options.
VIRTUAL FIELD TRIP INCLUDES:
- Asynchronous Learning Experience
- Four Pre-Recorded Tour Segments each less than 20 minutes
- Detailed Glossaries of Key Terms
- Meaningful Reflection Questions
OPTIONAL ADD-ONS:
- Live Survivor or 2nd Generation Speaker OR Interactive Survivor Stories Experience
- Live Question and Answer Session with a Museum Docent
The museum has also added a new field trip offering titled "Notorious RBG: The Life and Times of Ruth Bader Ginsburg," in memoriam of the late supreme court justice. This has both a virtual and in-person option. The theme of this exhibit is "We the People," expanding on RBG's commitment to better the lives of all Americans.
