Almost since its inception, the BMG has had an annual Awards Dinner at a country club.
Traditionally the dinner was held late in the year on a Sunday evening. This year, Brandeis went nautical as well as digital! Our dinner evolved into a luncheon and, thanks to member Mel Small, was held at the prestigious Del Rey Yacht Club in the Marina Del Rey. So on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in May, a group of us gathered in a private room with a view of hundreds of masts bobbing in the ocean. It made for a truly ocean-going experience.
After a champagne cocktail, they served Lunch. And what a Lunch it was. I can’t tell you about the others, but my veal must have been raised by hand. It was delicious…and the dessert…to die for.
But the business of the day was the presentation of Service Awards. Awards Chairman Alan Gottschalk ably assisted by our Host John Harris presented four awards listed below. Mercifully, the acceptance speeches were short.
