Welcome to Our New Members

Marcus Musante, Randy Barnes and Charles Dickman

Meet Our New Member - Charles Dickman
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California in 1929 to Simon and Dorothy Dickman. I was lucky to be loved and cared for by wonderful aunts and uncles who lived a few blocks away. I grew up with and am still very close with great cousins today. I graduated from Dorsey High School and attended Woodbury College until I was drafted into the army in 1951. I was a forward observer for nine months until I was wounded by ‘friendly fire’; afterwards I was sent to Sasebo, Japan for recovery and finally home. I had met a girl Micky at a BBG-AZA social a few years a few years before and met her again the first week home at a UCLA party. Six weeks later we were engaged and then married on June 28th, 1953. We have two sons and five grandchildren and have lived in Beverly Hills for 51 years. We have a new Dalmatian puppy (now 7 months old), the eighth Dalmatian dog.

My father Simon had owned a meat company, Pioneer Provisions. Starting in my early teens, I started to learn the business. In 1969, I decided to start my own company, Charlie’s Pride Meats that initially produced pastrami and corned beef; eventually 80 different products were manufactured and distributed nation-wide. My two sons joined me in the company.

My wife and I have crossed the USA both by car and airplane many times. We have also taken ship cruises to see the world. I retired after close to 50 years in the meat business. Now, I enjoy the BMG meetings and meeting new interesting people.
