BRANIFF 747 CONCEPT CABIN

NEW INTERIOR LIGHTS

INSTALLATION VIDEO!!!!

Its been awhile since we last brought you up to date on the Braniff 747 Concept Cabin Exhibit but rest assured progress has been made! Our main problem that we faced was in choosing the absolute best lighting for the replacement of the original fluorescent system originally installed in the aircraft. Once we chose the lighting it was backordered by more than six months.

Thankfully, it ended up getting here in only four months. In the meantime, the infrastructure needed for the new cabin lighting system was installed, which was not small feat. After the long wait and a lot of technical work, the new cabin lights are installed int he forward A Cabin section and they look amazing!

The classic cathedral lamps at each window bring a luxurious and comforting look. The new boarding lamps installed above each single window panel also compliment the cathedral light. The cathedral lights will be adjusted by the passenger at each seat, whereas the boarding lamps will be operated by the cabin attendant.

Our next project is to wire and light the L1 Cabin Door. Once that is up and running, the L1 Lavatory will be wired and new lights installed along with a new evacuation fan. These will operate by the opening and closing of the lavatory door. All of the LED bulbs for both the L1 Door and L1 Lavatory have been purchased and are ready to install once the new wiring is in place.

Progress! Soon construction of the right portion of the A Cabin will begin. All parts have now been received including both the L2 Galley and the A Cabin Main Galley.

This project has been made possible by the generous donations from the each of you and by grants from The National Endowment for the Arts Humanities of Texas and The Eugene McDermott Foundation

Thank you as always and expect a new update much sooner this next time!
