Missouri Senate Appropriations Committee took up the budget this week. They removed the DEI language that was attached to the budget bills in the House. Other changes from the House budget include:


-       Restored $4.5 million for public libraries

-       Added $2 billion for widening I-70

-       $461 million to increase pay for personal care workers who assist people with developmental disabilities

-       $300 million for the Department of Health to build a new psychiatric hospital in Kansas City


Members of the House Budget Committee and Senate Appropriations will go to Conference committee to work out the differences in the budget as early as next week.

PLUMB NELLIE DAYS FESTIVAL THIS WEEKEND

Downtown Branson is the heart of the Branson community and Plumb Nellie Days pays tribute to the days when the residents of Branson would gather to trade goods and listen to great music. The festival got its name as townsfolk would dress up as characters and "Plumb Nearly Anything" would be sold at the gathering. MONASP TOURNAMENT ECONOMIC IMPACT

The Missouri National Archery in the Schools (MoNASP) State Archery Tournament, hosted by the Missouri Department of Conservation and the Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation, is the state's archery championship. This year's event was held at the Branson Convention Center March 15-18. Over 4 days, the MONASP events included:



- Approximately 24,500 people (archers, coaches, spectators, vendors, volunteers, staff). 

- 906 more archers than 2022 (because of the extra flights on Wednesday). 

- More than 250 schools from across the state brought student archers to the competition.
