TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

Nighttime single-lane closures will be in place Sunday night through Saturday morning from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Work will continue on Vermont Route 9 (Western Avenue and High Street), U.S. Route 5 (Main Street), and Vermont Route 30 (Linden Street). Flaggers will be present to direct one-way alternating traffic through multiple work zones. Motorists should be aware of wet paint.

Parking restrictions will be enforced during working hours. Pedestrians should watch for sidewalk detours.

Flaggers will be present to direct one-way alternating traffic through the work zones.

PARKING IMPACTS:

Street side parking will be unavailable and strictly enforced, particularly on Western Avenue and High Street (VT 9) and in areas throughout downtown where pavement markings are laid out but have not yet been painted. From 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Sunday night through Saturday morning, paving and painting operations are scheduled in multiple locations throughout the project. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:

Crews continue to measure decibel levels with noise monitoring equipment throughout the work area.

Western Avenue and High Street (VT 9) - Sidewalks are currently under construction. Paving operations on VT 9 were re-scheduled to begin this upcoming Sunday and to continue until finished with the mainline roadway, side roads, and driveways.

Linden Street (VT 30) and Main Street (U.S. 5) - The pavement marking operations have about 2-3 shifts of work remaining in this area total which are anticipated to wrap up at the start of next week.

Vernon Street (VT 142) - Shoulder work and driveways should be completed by the end of this week and permanent pavement markings are planned for Sunday and Monday nights.

Canal Street (U.S. 5) - Paving the last few driveways should occur by the end of this week. Crews are installing new signs. Otherwise, this corridor has most major operations complete.

Brattleboro-Putney STP PS 25(11)

Milling and paving the first lift of pavement are complete on Putney Road (U.S. 5) near the intersection with Vermont Avenue to approximately the intersection with Noah's Lane. Crews will be working on utility structure adjustments through this area.

LOCATION:

This contract is a composite of three separate paving projects with detailed locations listed below. It includes all Class 1 limits of Brattleboro which are typically noted by a sign stating "State Highway Ends" and "State Highway Begins". Work to be done on these projects includes coarse milling (grinding off the top layers of pavement) to a depth of 2 inches and paving a ½ inch leveling course and then a 1 ½ inch top course of asphalt. ADA evaluation of sidewalk and pedestrian crossings, sign replacement, guardrail repair and replacement, center line rumble strip location evaluation and installation, drainage work, and other highway improvements are also planned as a part of these projects.

VT 9: The project begins at Edward Heights intersection and extends approximately 1.7 miles east to the I-91 Exit 2 interchange.

Brattleboro PC25(6)

U.S. 5: The project begins at the intersection with Generous Street and extends approximately 1.9 miles north to the Vermont Avenue intersection.

VT 9: The project begins at I-91 Exit 2 interchange and extends approximately 1.0 mile east to the intersection with U.S. 5 at the traffic signal.

VT 30: The project begins at the U.S. 5 and VT 30 interchange and follows VT 30 three tenths of a mile north to approximately the intersection with Cedar Street.

VT 142: The project begins at the Class 1 limit sign just south of the railroad tracks near Riverside Drive and follows VT 142 north to the intersection with U.S. 5 at the traffic signal, skipping over the newly paved portion of VT 142 completed for the Brattleboro-Hinsdale bridge project.

U.S. 5: The project begins on U.S. 5 in Brattleboro at the “State Highway Begins” sign at the intersection with Vermont Avenue and extends northerly along U.S. 5 for approximately 8.0 miles to just north of the Putney Landing Road intersection in Putney. Work will also take place within the roundabout and from the roundabout east to the New Hampshire state line on VT 9.
