In an increasingly global world, it's crucial for highly skilled professionals to be well-versed in legal matters and practices beyond the scope of their country. The American Law and Language Program (ALLP) at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, is a fantastic opportunity for Brazilian students to learn about the U.S. legal system at one of the country's highly-ranked law schools. Gabriel Estevam from the University of Brasília finished the program and recommends others to enroll. "Being able to think about the law from a different country's perspective is really valuable to a foreign student," said Estevam.

New Brazilian Buckeyes to Watch

"My name is Wanderson Novais Pereira. I am an agronomist passionate about the environment, social justice and healthy food systems. Last year during my internship with The Ohio Program at Ohio State, I applied to Ohio State and was awarded a University Fellowship to begin my graduate studies in environmental science and natural resources. Getting into a top-tier U.S. university like Ohio State was once a dream; now I hope to learn and contribute as much as I can as a graduate student to help and inspire others in my community."

MBA Get Together in Brazil

Ohio State MBA students were in Brazil as part of the Global Applied Projects (GAP) program where Fisher College of Business MBA students work on consulting projects for companies around the world for seven weeks, three of them abroad. The students worked together to understand their clients' needs and deliver innovative yet feasible projects. As a culmination of their projects, the Brazil Gateway hosted a special event for the team members, prospective students and alumni in São Paulo.

Grants for Fulbright in Brazil

Prestigious Brazilian universities and institutes will host scholars for research and lecturing. Law, international relations, public policy and history are among the areas of interest. In partnership with the Brazilian government, Fulbright offers fellowships to recent graduates, master's and doctoral candidates for up to one academic year. Opportunities are also available for early and mid-career scholars with significant publishing and teaching record. Preference will be given to candidates without substantial prior experience in Brazil, regardless of how advanced in their careers they may be. Portuguese language skills, or another Romance language, are desired, although not a requirement. The deadline to apply is September 16.

Global Perspectives: Ivo Terek

I have obtained my undergraduate and master's degrees in mathematics from the University of São Paulo (USP) in Brazil. Last year, I started my PhD at Ohio State in pursuit of further growth and new life experiences. My pleasant surprise, though, was when the trip and the mini-course were actually made possible with a combined support from the departments of mathematics of both universities and a São Paulo Research Foundation Regular Research Award—a joint grant between Ohio State and USP.
