This week marked the first day of spring – supposedly. I saw a funny meme about our “four
seasons” in Georgia. I’ll paraphrase the image in my own words: “During the middle of March,
winter will occur from 10:00 pm until 9:00 am. Spring commences at 9:00 am and gives way to
summer around 12:00 pm. Summer stays around until 4:00 pm before transitioning into fall, which lasts until 10:00 pm before the cycle repeats itself.” Sounds about right from my experience! That’s the old adage in the South, if you do not like the weather – wait a minute.

Despite our temperamental weather system, there are signs that new life is coming. Planting season will soon be upon us, the weather will warm up, the Masters Golf Tournament is right around the corner, and of course the Holy Season that leads up to the joys of Resurrection
Sunday. This is a beautiful time of year – transformation is all around us!

As you observe change, I pray that you’ll also seize the opportunity to experience spiritual transformation. As we have been studying, the way of salvation is a journey of ongoing change. In 2 Corinthians 3:18, Paul reminds the Church of their ongoing experience with God:
18 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image, from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” With Paul’s words comes an invitation, to lean into that progressive transformation from who you have been, towards who you will be in Christ. This Sunday, we’ll look at the possibilities of your personal transformation through the scriptural lens of Jesus’ Transfiguration in Luke 9. I look
forward to worshipping with you – no matter what the temperature may be!
Expecting His Best,
Stephen V. Allen, Senior Pastor
