A THOUSAND ACRES

JANE SMILEY

This is brilliant portraits of family relationships that are never what they seem, laced with layers of mysteries. It is a dramatic novel of an American family whose wealth cannot stay the hand of tragedy. It is a commanding novel, based on a lonely road in the Midwest.
