So Cyndy and I were out for a short Sunday ride. She was on her Triumph Tiger 900 Low, and I was on my 2010 Harley Super Glide Custom. Yes, I have an old Harley and I enjoy riding it because I come from the Easy Rider era and it’s cool and fun to ride. For those of you that do not know Easy Rider, it was one of the most iconic motorcycle movies ever and came out in 1969. That movie and On Any Sunday had more affect on new motorcycle enthusiasts than probably any movies ever.
We were riding down the street at about 30 mph and all of a sudden my engine stalls. I had all electrical but no engine! So I coasted to the side of the road and wondered, “what the hell?” Then I hit the starter button and it roared to life and ran perfectly. So off we went and 4 or 5 minutes later the same thing happened again. At this point we decided to head for home hoping it would make it. It stalled again on the way, but we made it.
I was a master technician and of course wondering and thinking was it fuel related or spark etc. We took it into Lifestyle Cycles, and they figured it out and fixed it quickly. It was a crank sensor that started failing. Wasn’t major or expensive to fix but made me think about how screwed it is when you have a problem with your bike.
