It's Debate Night! The Bay of Quinte Riding Candidates will be joining us tonight at the Empire Theatre and we're looking forward to hearing how they will respond to questions of significance to provincial policy and funding. While we did hear from candidates a few short months ago, the landscape has shifted with the US election, impending changes and the cumulative impact (over decades) of provincial decisions are key issues to be discussed. BCC President Chris Auger will be moderating this evening and thanks to CLAR - Central Lakes Association of Realtors and YourTV for their support in making this free event possible and available to our community.

I also want to share a heartfelt thank you to Elexicon for sponsoring our very first joint event with UNAC-Quinte Branch members and Dr. Aruna Alexander at "We LOVE Belleville" mingle last week hosted by The Children's Foundation and Highland Shores CAS. It was a true reflection of our "village" and the shared love in our choice of Belleville as the place we all call home. In spite of the morning snow fall, the weather was perfect and over 80 people gathered to enjoy food provided by the team from Aspira - Quinte Gardens as well as featured flavours from BayLeaf, Community Bakehouse, Linguines and Thairific (and I brought in some of my own homemade krumkake as a tribute to my Scandinavian heritage). We're looking forward to this becoming an annual approach to the month of love.

And one last quick note about our upcoming breakfast with the new Police Chief Murray Rodd. In addition to an introduction to our new Chief, this is going to be a roundtable working session and you'll be joined with members of the Belleville Police Service and their Board who are undertaking their strategic plan. This will be a unique opportunity to share your perspective on two key questions -

What do you want and need from the Belleville Police Service?

How can you support and assist them?
