HUD awards San Antonio & Bexar County with $14.6 million in grants and 47 stability vouchers to address unsheltered homelessness
This week, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced grants and stability vouchers to address unsheltered and rural homelessness. We are both humbled and honored to share that San Antonio & Bexar County was one of the 29 Continuum of Care (CoC) communities selected to receive this special round of funding, with $14.6 million in grants and 47 stability vouchers awarded through partnerships with Opportunity Home San Antonio and the Housing Authority of Bexar County (HABC).
At a community-wide press conference on Monday, Mayor Ron Nirenberg spoke on this momentous occasion, "These resources are now going to make it possible for hundreds, if not thousands, of San Antonio families to thrive. We are all in on ending the cycles that contribute to housing insecurity, lack of economic mobility, socioeconomic inequities, and generational poverty. We are ensuring we are putting our entire communities' strengths behind it!"
