Local Young Entrepreneurs Launch 16 Companies

Seventeen young entrepreneurs pitched their 16 startup businesses before a panel of investors on March 20. These 6th-12th graders are participating in a 24-week intensive hands-on business course called the Young Entrepreneurs Academy a program of the Bellevue Chamber. The investor panel selected Nir Pechuk, CEO of Extentek to represent Bellevue to advance to the 11th Annual YEA! Saunders Scholars National Semi-Finals College Scholarship competition.

Budget Time in Olympia

With less than a month to go before “Sine Die,” legislative leaders in Olympia are debating what to do with an extra $5.6 billion revenue over the next two years. Current levels of taxation would provide enough cash to pay for a maintenance-level budget of $51 billion. However, a proposed capital gains tax, graduated real estate excise tax and capital gains are still on the table.

Chamber Support for Energize Eastside

After years of planning and public process, PSE’s Energize Eastside project is now in the permitting phase. Last week, Chamber members and staff offered comments in support of the project before the Bellevue Hearing Examiner.

Pending approval, the first segment will upgrade three plus miles of electric power lines from 115 kV to 230 kV and create a new substation along existing right of way within our City limits.
