Construction Intern -

Last Chance!

Thanks to the Future Community Impact Makers: Atlantic Union Bank Intern Grant Program, we will be hiring a summer construction intern. This individual will work for 8 weeks and learn construction planning, permits, and county processes necessary for construction; knowledge of nonprofit work and affordable housing; and more. The majority of construction is expected to be on Habitat's first King William lot. To read more and apply, visit us online.

2023 Golf Classic

Hanover and King William Habitat for Humanity held their second annual golf classic at Hanover Golf Club. Wonderful sponsors, players, and volunteers truly blessed Habitat during our event. Ways to Get Involved

Our King William lot on W. River Road will begin construction soon! We desperately need local volunteers (skilled or unskilled) to help throughout the next couple of months. Volunteers are asked to sign up for a Friday or Saturday (or both!), beginning at 8:30 a.m. If you, a business, or an organization is interested in volunteering, visit our volunteer portal to sign up or contact Amanda Gunter by email or phone at 804-569-6108 x104 to discuss volunteer opportunities. If you are skilled in construction, please share that when contacting us.

Save Friday, September 15 for our annual Harvest of Hope dinner. We are currently looking for event sponsors. If you are interested in learning more, please email Michele McCabe or call 804-569-6108 x104.

Hanover and King William Habitat for Humanity will be at the following events this summer:

  • June 3 - Strawberry & Wine Festival in Ashland
  • June 16 - King William Farmers Market
  • June 24 - Hanover County Sheriff's Youth and Family Festival at the Hanover Vegetable Farm
  • July 14 & 15 - Hanover Tomato Festival at Pole Green Park
  • July 21 - King William Farmers Market
  • July 29 - National Night Out Kick-Off Event at Green Top
  • August 18 - King William Farmers Market

If you attend any of these events, make sure you stop by and see us!

We are currently in a budget shortfall for this fiscal year and need to raise approximately $30,000 by June 30 to meet this goal.

For our programs to continue to be successful, we need your help! We are grateful for the support we get from this community, but with rising costs, it takes increased funding to deliver our mission. The average cost for us to purchase land and build a home is $205,000 per home and the average critical repair cost is $8,000.

  • Your donation will help us to complete our Wesley Street build in Ashland. Some items that we still need to complete include painting, laying the carpet, and cabinetry installation. The sooner we can get this work completed the sooner Krystal and her daughter Nyla can move into their new home with an affordable mortgage.
  • We are working on a critical home repair in King William where two sisters are living with their five children in the home of their late mother. The home needs electrical and plumbing work done. We estimate that these repairs will cost $3200. Your donation will help us complete these repairs so that the families have a safe home to live and thrive in.

Please help us reach our budgeted spring goal of $50,000. Gifts of all sizes are greatly appreciated and valued.

To donate online via e-check or credit card, visit www.hkwhabitat.org/donate or you can mail a check to PO Box 2604 Mechanicsville, VA 23116

ReStore

The ReStore will be closed on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, in honor of Juneteenth, which is Monday, June 19.

We have entered ANOTHER can competition through Novelis. Stock up on your aluminum cans and bring them to the ReStore! Help us collect even MORE metal during this round. The competition runs through the end of July.

Thank You!

Thank you, Owens and Minor Foundation for your financial gift and support of affordable housing in Hanover and King William!
