What made you decide to become an engineer?
My grandfather was a civil/structural engineer in Panama City, Panama. I really looked up to him. I always thought it was cool spending time with him looking at his calculations and projects. Doesn’t hurt that I was big fan of Legos either, I suppose.
How has Mainstay helped you in your career development?
When I came back to New Jersey from Atlanta, the majority of my experience was with mid-rise concrete structures, with some steel sprinkled in here and there. The experiences I’ve had at Mainstay have helped refine my understanding of structural steel and introduced me to the fall protection industry.
What are your hopes for our industry?
Fall protection and safety has been a growing sector of the engineering industry. My hope is that this growth continues to expand and that commercial and residential sectors see increases in fall protection and safety measures during initial construction, in addition to the retrofit work already being performed.
What is your favorite part about working for Mainstay?
Our New Jersey office is very collaborative with our unique and interesting projects, working with Ryan and Matt is very enjoyable!
What are 3 words to describe Mainstay?
Casual, Engaging and Collaborative.
