I hope your fall is off to a great start. The leaves might be changing, but one thing hasn’t changed: my chair has apparently decided to make me aware that sitting all day at a desk is NOT doing me any favours in the fitness department.
Desk chair exercises anyone? Let’s just say, after a quick Google search, I’ve discovered a few new moves that might actually make me look graceful while juggling phone calls and client meetings! But don’t worry, no pickleball paddles required (despite last week’s subject line... which apparently got some of you excited!).
Speaking of subject lines, they are very important: they matter a lot. I can practically predict the open rate of this newsletter each week based on how creative I get with that little string of words up top. The Pickleball headline? Yep, it had a few takers, and no, I don’t actually have paddles to give away. But it proves the point—your message is only as strong as your opener.
For a review of our content in September, head on over to our blog for a refresh - we were talking about lead generation, consulting services and started a series on dealing with your pain points (which we will continue going into October).
The Ask: One thing I always tell my clients is, don’t be afraid to ask for what you want. And yet, here I am, not always following my own advice. Funny how that works, right? In my weekly referral group, I give a 1-minute pitch—who we are, what we do, our ideal client, and "the ask." It works because if you don’t ask, you don’t get. Same goes for marketing, and same goes for websites. I love building and redesigning websites - transforming an old, clunky website into something modern and magnetic. So who needs a new website ? Call me!
Oh, and I’m breaking another one of my own cardinal rules (had to look up where that phrase came from - interesting) today—never send a newsletter on the first day of the month. Why? Because everyone else does! But here’s the thing—you expect this newsletter on Tuesday mornings, so here we are, October 1st or not.
In this issue, we’re into Week 2 of Constant Contact’s "Ready, Set, Send" challenge, and this week’s focus is on—guess what?—subject lines! So, take a peek at the tips, and while you’re at it, let me know what you think about the future of remote work (we’ve got an article on that below).
Have a great week, and don’t forget to stretch!
Enjoy! Have a great day, and if you have a question or comment - email me!
