New Mural To Brighten Up North Ninth Street Underpass
Artist Andrei Krautsou to complete an energy-themed mural on North Ninth Street
Lafayette, IN, September 21, 2017 - The Tippecanoe Arts Federation (TAF) and Tippecanoe County Public Art Team (TCPAT) are pleased to announce the selection of artist Andrei Krautsou (aka "Key Detail") for the creation of a new public art mural in Greater Lafayette. Through the generous support of Duke Energy, the Community Foundation of Greater Lafayette, and TCPAT, a new energy-themed mural will brighten up the pylons of the I-65 underpass along North Ninth Street, near Battle Ground.
Krautsou's dynamic design was selected by TCPAT and TAF earlier this summer. The artist will transform now barren concrete pylons with two designs that highlight Indiana's prominent energy sector fused with natural landscapes. The mural is scheduled to be completed in October.
The artist thinks that this mural has the capability to "transform the neighborhood into an inspiring place." An experienced muralist, Krautsou has completed several murals both nationally and internationally, transforming ordinary spaces into unexpected aesthetic experiences.
Community members will be invited to participate in this public art project by painting with the artist. More details will become available for interested community members in October.
