Kokomo, IN (November 8, 2024) - Bloom Senior Living, a family-owned and operated company with over 50-years of senior care experience, announced today that its Kokomo, Indiana Assisted Living and Memory Care community, Bloom at Kokomo, obtained a deficiency free survey from the Indiana State Department of Health ("ISDH").
Bloom is a family company that has been providing superior care to seniors since 1965. The company was inspired after the owners experienced the challenge of finding the right home for their grandmother when she began needing care. Bloom offers a modern, lifestyle approach to healthcare that caters to the needs of each individual, and a mission that is simple yet aspirational: to help residents flourish.
As part of its mission, Bloom is committed to stellar resident centered care. "Receiving a deficiency free survey confirms the community is continuing to do an exceptional job, and providing residents the services and care necessary to flourish," reports Bloom owner Scott Kantor. Bloom at Kokomo’s Executive Director, Kathy Hopwood, adds "we are extremely proud of this achievement. As the director of Bloom at Kokomo, I can proudly say we put our residents and their care first and this perfect survey confirms we're meeting expectations. We have a consistent multi-year track record for providing exceptional service and care to our residents, a growing waitlist and a culture committed to continuing to exceed even the highest expectations over the years to come consistent with our Bloom Beliefs."
ISDH is responsible for ensuring licensed senior living communities comply with mandatory state regulations. The inspections, called surveys, are conducted on a no-notice basis and consist of a checklist of areas and categories to examine. The categories include policies and procedures, resident care, medication administration, medical records, kitchen sanitation, staff competencies, dietary needs, equipment and the overall safety, fitness and adequacy of the community.
Bloom encourages families who tour Bloom at Kokomo, and other communities, to request a copy of state surveys and compare results. When a family needs care for their loved one, the survey is an important tool in understanding how residences are rated and which communities are performing at the highest level. Ultimately, the survey's purpose is to evaluate the quality of life and care received by the residents. Its goal is to ensure the residence is operating according to the ISDH’s highest standards.
