County Approves $20M Relief Package for
San Diego Businesses Impacted by Indoor Closures
On Wednesday, November 25th the San Diego Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a $20M relief package. This plan will provide grants to businesses reeling from purple tier restrictions. The proposal co-authored by Supervisors Nathan Fletcher and Greg Cox will allocate $20 million from the county’s general fund to businesses like restaurants, gyms, movie theaters, museums, zoos/aquariums and businesses with fewer than 100 employees that have been handcuffed by bans on indoor services. The $20 million will be split evenly among the county’s five districts, leaving each district $4 million to divide between businesses in their area. This Small Business Stimulus Grant will not need to be repaid. The county will try to focus its attention to helping businesses that don’t have the resources to facilitate expanding outdoors. The goal is to have these funds provide a lifeline that will keep businesses from closing their doors for good. Businesses can use the funds to pay rent and mortgage, purchase equipment needed to comply with COVID regulations and pay employees.

The Chamber has Been Approved to Partner on an Event in Grossmont Center on the Weekend of December 12th and December 13th - The Hours are 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Join Us and Meet the Public!
The San Diego County Health Department is allowing the Chamber to have display tables in conjunction with the Holiday Market produced by a group called, the San Diego Made Holiday Market. This group produces the largest locally curated market with handmade goods and will have approximately 60 local makers on the weekend of Saturday, December 12th and Sunday, December 13th. This event is FREE to the public, with all COVID safety measures in place.
NOTE: This group had the same event over the weekend of November 21st and 22nd and had 2,000 people attend!

The La Mesa Chamber will have an area of the parking lot for our vendors. Chamber Members can purchase a space in the Chamber area of this weekend event. Vendors will need to supply their own table and canopies, as we are outside in a parking lot. The cost for (1) day is $100 and (2) days for $200. Members can take one or both of the days. This activity is to promote Chamber members (in good standing) and the goods and services they offer and provide.

Join Us at the Drive Thru Toy Drive at Grossmont Center for Our La Mesa Military Families - TOMORROW (Tuesday)!
Want to make a difference this holiday season for the children of military personnel that live in La Mesa military housing? Then join the members of the La Mesa Chamber of Commerce and purchase toys, diapers, gift cards and other items that will make their holiday season special. This project allows the La Mesa Chamber of Commerce to continue their commitment to making a difference in La Mesa and the lives of those within our community.

In the past years we hosted an evening mixer at BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse to collect these toys and other items and had a real celebration! With the current pandemic, that is not able to happen. The Chamber will accept your items throughout the month by either calling Mary England, 619-251-7730 to meet and pick them up, or drop them off to Fran Smith at 8080 La Mesa Blvd., Suite 214 in La Mesa between the hours of 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.
The final collection of toys (new and unwrapped) and gift items will take place at our new "Drive-Thru" event on Tuesday, December 1st between 5:30pm - 6:30 pm at Grossmont Center.

We will be staged in the parking lot in front of San Diego Yoga and CVS Pharmacy between the hours of 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Enter Grossmont Center by Target and drive up the entrance and you will see us on the right as you drive in the Center. Look for the pop-up tent and our smiling faces as we greet you!

Every person donating will receive a FREE raffle ticket to be in our drawing to win our huge stuffed bear! This is a popular annual raffle! While in Grossmont Center that evening, we encourage you to visit one of the restaurants and enjoy a bite to eat and be sure to visit the many retail stores that are anxious to serve you.

Cal Coast Invites SoCal Residents
to Shop and Donate “Local for the Holidays”
California Coast Credit Union is encouraging its members and the community to shop at local businesses and donate to local non-profits through its Local for the Holidays effort, which runs from November 26 to December 31.

Area small businesses and non-profits have been hit especially hard during the COVID-19 pandemic and with Local for the Holidays, San Diego and Riverside County residents are encouraged to support their communities by patronizing local businesses and donating to local charities and non-profits.
By shopping at a business in San Diego or Riverside Counties, Cal Coast members will help raise funds for the Strategic Alliance – San Diego Ethnic Chambers of Commerce, which supports local, minority-owned small businesses. With each Cal Coast MasterCard® Debit or Credit Card purchase made from November 26 – December 31, a portion of the sales will be donated to the Strategic Alliance, up to $20,000. Additionally, the community is encouraged to donate to one of the four featured local charities on the Cal Coast Donation Portal. The four charities Cal Coast is supporting are the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank, the Cal Coast Cares Foundation, the Monarch School, and Operation SafeHouse.

“Local businesses are the heart and soul of our community,” said Todd Lane, Cal Coast President & CEO. “This year has been hard for everyone, especially small, locally owned businesses and we hope that our members and the community will join us in providing some relief through our Local for the Holidays effort.”

Residents of San Diego and Riverside Counties who are not Cal Coast members are welcome to make a donation to any of the featured charities through the donation portal. To become a Cal Coast member and help raise funds for the Strategic Alliance, please visit here.
