Breaking News. Not Reported Anywhere!!!!!

Billions of ££££ has been wiped on to stock market values in the last month. Huge gains have been made but you won't hear about it in the financial press. The FTSE 100 graph below outlines the benefits of staying resolute in the face of "financial doomsayers". Savvy investors stay invested.

A big challenge for our clients, and all investors, is that all the financial news is so short term and sensationalised. Our clients have a long term financial plan but we also account for short term shocks so that they can stay invested and wait for the upturn. Short term shocks will happen, will again in the future, and we know the last year has been a difficult investment period.

S&P 500, US 10-Year Treasury, and 60/40 Portfolio

(Total returns, 1928 -2022)

Since 1928, there have been just five in which both the S&P 500 and the 10-Year Treasury Bond were down: 1931, 1941, 1969, 2018 and 2022. But there's only been ONE year in which both the S&P 500 and the 10-Year Treasury Bond were down more than 10%.. and that's 2022.

I still don't know any better way to future proof our clients' wealth over decades than by allocating capital to the world's best companies. Our clients have done that, stayed the course throughout this rollercoaster period, and continued to invest in low-cost index funds and empirical evidenced investment strategies. Give yourself a pat on the back. Not only have you managed to outperform the vast majority of active investors, including the professionals; you've also survived a once-in-a-hundred-years event.

Thanks Wealth Planning understands that this is a difficult investing period and wants to thank our clients for trusting the process, understanding the long term picture and focusing on what they can control.
