Congratulations!
Greetings!
We are delighted to announce that Margaret Nunziato has accepted the position of Executive Director at Westchester Independent Living Center. Margaret has served in a variety of roles at WILC since starting here in 1999. She succeeds our previous long-term Executive Director, Joe Bravo, who retired this January after founding the organization four decades ago.

“I am honored to serve as the new Executive Director at Westchester Independent Living Center, an organization that has been near and dear to my heart for the past 22 years. It epitomizes my passion of facilitating independence and empowerment for people with disabilities. I am so proud of all we have accomplished to date under Joe Bravo’s leadership and I am excited for our future ahead,” said Margaret when her leadership role was announced.

40 Years
2021 also marks 40 years of WILC working with and empowering people with disabilities to lead self-directed lives in the community through advocacy, training and referrals to resources that promote independent living. A celebration for reaching this great milestone is planned for later this year.
NY Connects, No Wrong Door
Since January 2017 WILC has partnered with local Offices for Aging in the Lower Hudson Valley region to provide NY Connects, No Wrong Door services to those in need of resource information and assistance on long term support services that individuals may be seeking to ensure a safe, independent and fulfilling community living experience. WILC’s NY Connects team has assisted over 7346 individuals with long term supports and service needs.

Throughout the Covid19 Pandemic NY Connects continues to help. Face to face assistance has been put on hold for safety reasons, but we provide services by phone, email and Zoom meetings. Many individuals who were isolated prior to the pandemic have expressed a greater sense of disconnection and loneliness. For these individuals regularly scheduled “warm calls” connect them with a familiar staff member.

WILC’s NY Connects staff works with anyone who needs information, assistance or wants to explore options regarding long term services and supports – children or adults with disabilities, older adults, family members and caregivers, friends, or neighbors, veterans, and helping professionals.
NY Connects assists with resource information and linkage to community long term services and supports designed to help people remain healthy and independent in Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster and Sullivan Counties.
