West Virginia State Medical Association WESPAC
Endorses Evan Jenkins for
West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals
Charleston, WVa.— September 26, 2018, WESPAC announces its endorsement of Evan Jenkins, candidate for Justice of the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, Division 2. Jenkins was appointed by Governor Jim Justice to fill the vacancy left when Justice Robin Davis resigned her seat last month. Jenkins is a candidate running in a special election for the remaining six years of Davis’ term.

Prior to serving as a congressman in West Virginia’s third congressional district, Jenkins served 16 years as the Executive Director of the West Virginia State Medical Association (WVSMA). During his tenure, Evan provided outstanding leadership to the organization and played an integral role in the passage of the medical liability reforms in 2001 (HB 601) and 2003 (HB 2122). These reforms, in part, have contributed to an improved medical professional liability climate in the state of West Virginia.

“Evan Jenkins worked diligently for West Virginia physicians and our patients when he was Executive Director of WVSMA. It is time we return integrity to our Court. Evan has the legal and legislative experience needed to adjudicate fairly,” said Joe Prud’homme, MD, WESPAC Chair.

Your WVSMA is committed to providing exemplary advocacy on behalf of its members. The best way to accomplish successful advocacy on your behalf is to promote trustworthy candidates, to get in front of the issues, such as scope of practice, medical liability reform, and the opioid crisis.

“Evan Jenkins has a proven track record as a man of integrity, knowledge, and experience,” said Austin Wallace, MD, past president, WVSMA. “The physician community of WV supports his candidacy for the WV Supreme Court.”
