Breakout Country Rock Artist Cory Marks Releases Driving New EP I Rise on November 11
On Tour with Brantley Gilbert and Five Finger Death Punch
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 24, 2022
Toronto ON - With hit single "Outlaws & Outsiders" nearing Platinum certification and over 140 million global streams, country rock star Cory Marks is set to release his hotly anticipated new EP, appropriately titled - I Rise - on November 11 via Better Noise Music and all streaming platforms.
Produced by Kevin Churko (Ozzy Osbourne, Five Finger Death Punch, Papa Roach, Shania Twain) and Kane Churko (In This Moment, Hellyeah), the new EP includes a collection of songs that were written during the pandemic lockdown while Cory worked toward completing his pilot's license. The album was creatively inspired by Cory channeling his prowess for songwriting along with the intense training, determination, patience and grit to become a certified pilot. Refer to “Flying,” the forthcoming single and video to gain insight into his process.
The rest of the EP is jam packed with the energy embodied in Cory’s live show. With powerful, anthemic tracks like “Burn It Up” which has already eclipsed nearly 300K streams, and has been included in the soundtrack for the horror/thriller The Retaliators (more info on the film below), and the infectious, uplifting positivity on “Hold On”, which speaks to the relentless pursuit of a dream - we all possess. There is something on the EP for every musical lover.
A pleasant surprise on the EP is Cory’s take on Steve Miller Band’s “Jet Airliner”. Adding a modern twist to the rock classic, Cory’s impressive vocal chops are on full display. In support of the EP, Cory and his band will be hitting the road in the US, on a massive arena tour with Five Finger Death Punch and Brantley Gilbert on what promises to be nothing short of an electric, 24 date good time!
'This EP was a blast to create and it's very special to me because it's rooted in my edgier rock side,” says Cory Marks. “Every track allowed me to push myself vocally and gave me one hell of a challenge, but it also allowed me the time to focus on writing rock songs that express my passion for the genre and this side of who I am as an artist”.
Always eager to try new things, Cory made his debut acting cameo as a bartender in the successful horror-thriller film The Retaliators (2021), which features his songs “Burn It Up” and “Blame It on The Double” on the soundtrack. Just in time for Halloween, this past week marks the North American VOD release of The Retaliators, with the film available now everywhere you rent or buy movies, including iTunes, Amazon, Vudu, Comcast and Verizon.
Drawing on his career as a country artist, Cory made the effortless transition to country rock with the breakout track “Outlaws and Outsiders”. The song features legendary artists Mick Mars (Motley Crue), Travis Tritt and Ivan Moody (Five Finger Death Punch). In 2019, Billboard deemed the top 10 Rock Radio single “Outlaws and Outsiders” the “hit that couldn’t be confined”. The same statement could be said about Cory Marks himself, who has exploded onto airwaves, streaming services and tour stages in recent years, making himself known as the next generation of country/rock fusion artists recently written up in LOUDWIRE alongside Jellyroll, Hardy and others. Mixing the storytelling tradition of country music and the loud, unapologetic sounds of rock, Cory’s music blasts with an aggressive, soulful edge. 2020 saw the release of his critically acclaimed album WHO I AM – spawning fan favorites like “Devil’s Grin” and “Blame It on the Double”.
Rooted in the influence of his hometown in North Bay, Ontario, Cory is undoubtedly himself, not just as a musician, but as a person. He continues to be influenced by the acts that drew him to writing and performing in the first place: The Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, Rush, Ozzy Osbourne, and most notably Merle Haggard, who Cory embodies in his own 21st century way.
