Vaping Unveiled™

Many teens believe vaping is harmless. Here are commonly asked questions and the facts behind the myths.
MYTH: It’s just flavoring.
TRUTH: Vape flavors are from chemicals that are approved to eat, but not safe to inhale.

MYTH: It’s just water vapor.
TRUTH: Vaping exposes user’s lungs to harmful chemicals like formaldehyde, diacetyl and acrolein, and tiny metal particles like nickel, tin and lead.

MYTH: Just because I vape doesn’t mean I’m going to smoke cigarettes.
TRUTH: Research shows teens who vape are three to four times more likely to try smoking cigarettes.

MYTH: Nicotine isn’t that bad for me.
TRUTH: A teen’s brain is still developing, making it more vulnerable to nicotine addiction, sooner. Nicotine exposure during teen years disrupts normal brain development and has long-lasting effects. Vaping delivers nicotine to the brain in as little as 10 seconds.

To address the high rate of youth vaping in the state, Breathe New Hampshire created Vaping Unveiled™: What Everyone Needs to Know.

This free program is offered to parents, communities and schools to raise awareness of vaping and the dangers of youth nicotine addiction. See more on vaping here.
School administrators: Discarding confiscated vape devices? Consider donating them to Breathe NH for our presentations. Or send us photos to help us illustrate the problem.
