Upper School Director Search
Breck is in the process of hiring a new Upper School Director, and the search is down to three candidates. All three candidates had the opportunity to interview with students, parents, and faculty the week of December 14-18. Breck’s goal is to select the new Upper School Director early in 2021 and have them start in the role July 1, 2021.
Equity Audit
Breck has recently launched an internal equity audit, partnering with two equity consultants, one of which is Design Impact, a firm that uses human-centered design to build a more equitable culture. The other is Dr. Charlotte Jacobs, who will work with academic leadership, faculty and staff on curriculum, policies, and practices spanning from admission through graduation. The culmination of the project is to co-create long-lasting change that will be felt by all community members.

Design Impact is wrapping up their discovery phase after meeting with focus groups and conducting interview calls. A big thank you to all the alumni who were able to participate in this part of the audit. In early February, Design Impact will present the patterns and trends about Breck’s culture, climate, as well as opportunities and barriers to DEI work at Breck. Join us!
Teaching in the Hybrid Learning Model
We asked longtime Breck English teacher, Dallas Crow, to share his experience working through all of the challenges of teaching in 2020.

If you would like to make a year-end gift to support this community, you can do so here.
On October 28th, I celebrated one year as a member of the Breck staff. What a year it has been! While I never could have imagined a first year like this, I am still so grateful to be a member of this community. It has been incredibly challenging to have to postpone reunions, to see events like Homecoming, Grandparents' Day, and Commencement shift so dramatically, and to be restricted from traveling to meet alumni who live outside of MN. Despite those challenges, I have found Breck to be the warm, welcoming, and vibrant community that I thought I was joining last October. I am so thankful for the relationships I’ve built and the widespread support I have received from so many of you. I hope those of you who are reading this — who I have not had a chance to connect with yet — will take this as an invitation to reach our to me. I am honored to serve as your Alumni Director and look forward to an even better second year with Breck!
