Message from the CEO
Dear Friends,

As we approach the 2016 year end, I would like to thank you, our partners, for your investment in the local child welfare System of Care and the key role you have played to serve, support and strengthen the children and families entrusted to our care.

For 11 years, BFP along with its many community partners, have led the way in reducing the incidences of child abuse and neglect in Brevard, while strengthening families so that parents and their children can remain safely together, in their homes and community; and children in need of a permanent home and family, find safety, stability, love and a place in which to belong with their adoptive families.

As a community, our focus is and has always been, ensuring the delivery of a high quality innovative, evidence-based child welfare continuum of care in an environment of partnership and collaboration. This year has presented its opportunities, challenges and successes which together, we as a community of practice, have approached with a spirit of determination.

Over the past 3 years, Brevard, along with the state of Florida, has experienced a substantial increase in the number of children being removed from their families and placed into out of home care. While this shift in practice presented its challenges, together we as a community remained focused on our mission and vision of the safety of children first and foremost.

As we look back over the past year there are many accomplishments to celebrate. Learn about some of our highlights here.
Celebration of Adoption
 
In honor of National Adoption Month, Judge Kelly McKibben presided over a Celebration of Adoption event on November 18, 2016 at the Moore Justice Center.  We celebrated 13 children being joined with their forever families!   View photos from this special celebration online here. 
Reunification Celebration
On November 4, 2016, Judge Kelly McKibben, Brevard Family Partnership and IMPOWER hosted an inaugural Reunification Celebration and recognized the 
families in our community who have successfully overcome the challenges in their lives to be reunited with their children.  Our celebration featured special guest speakers, success stories from families, refreshments, and family fun entertainment.

SUPPLIES FOR SUCCESS - $50   
Provides a student with necessary school supplies
For most kids, the start of a school year is an exciting time, filled with new supplies and hope for success. Together we can help foster kids enjoy the same experience! Help give local foster children the confidence they need to succeed in school.
 
PROJECT PROM - $100
Enables a youth to attend their high school prom and build valuable childhood memories all children should be afforded
Traditional funding for foster care doesn't include "extras" that are so important to a child's well-being.  Your support provides youth the opportunity to participant in activities that boost their self-esteem, promote feelings of belonging and enrich their lives.
 
BRIDGE TO INDEPENDENCE - $250
Equips a young adult for their transition from care to independence Your donation can help purchase basic household necessities for youths aging out of foster care and help bridge the gap between hope and a future.
 
   


EDUCATIONAL IMPACT- $500
Gives two youth aging out of care a laptop for college
Your donation provides young adults aging out of foster care the opportunity to pursue their educational goals and equip them with the tools necessary for success.
 
 
ACTIVE INVOLVEMENT  - $1,000
Sends 10 children to camp for one week
Your support can provide children in foster care with an enriching summer camp experience that boosts their self-esteem, promotes positive social interaction, and gives Brevard County youth happy, positive memories that will last a lifetime.

Congratulations
Congratulations to our Recruitment Specialist, Jason Simmons, who was recognized as 2016 Citizen of the Year at the Rockledge Kiwanis Annual Installation Banquet!

Jason was recognized due to his commitment and dedication to the children in Brevard County.
