November 2016
Message from the CEO
On Friday November 18th, I had the privilege to attend Brevard County's 10th Mass Adoption Celebration. With standing room only, thirteen children and their long awaited families were united at this momentous occasion. Words cannot express the joy of observing the children and families as they formalized their union after months, and in some cases years, of waiting for this day to arrive.
The Mass Adoption Day event takes place annually in November to commemorate and raise awareness of adoption and the need for more families to consider adoption as an option. The event is always a highlight of the year, when our community is privileged to witness the children and youth who found permanency in loving homes with their forever family, come together to finalize the adoption.
When a child in foster care is placed with their adoptive family, it allows them an opportunity to overcome a challenging period in their life, with hope for the future. Adoption enables children to experience life with the security of a loving family in which to belong. It also completes and makes whole families who have opened their hearts and homes to provide a safe and loving environment for children to thrive.
November is National Adoption Month
Every year, our community celebrates National Adoption Month and the hundreds of children who have found forever homes right here in Brevard!
We all know that children are special... but adopted children are chosen! Adoption is permanence for a child; it means the child has a 'forever' family who will be there for them through the good times and the challenges.
Meet Alexandria, a sweet girl who has finally found her forever home.

Help Brighten the Holidays for Local Children
Every year, Brevard Family Partnership joins our local partners to ensure every child in our care has a gift to open on Christmas Day. It is only with the community's support that we are able to provide gifts for these children and help make their holiday season merry and bright.  You can help!

There are several ways that you and your company can participate:
- Allow your place of business to be a collection site for donated gifts
- Engage your employees and "adopt " as many children as you can as an organization! We'll provide you with specific wishes from the children you request.
- Make a financial donation to Brevard Family Partnership and specify the funds be used to purchase gifts . We'll do the shopping!
For additional information on how you can help our community's children this holiday season, please contact Melissa.Breckenridge@brevardfp.org or call 321.752.4650 Ext. 3047.

Foster Together.  Foster a Future.
At a time when they need stability and security, to tear a child from their brother or sister can cause distress and severely impact their mental health.  However, we simply don't have enough foster homes to keep siblings together.  That's why we need your help.  Become a foster parent.

Special Thank You
Thank you to Susan and Mike Feener from the Indian River Colony Club, who generously donated denim handmade bags for youth in foster care.
Many foster children going from home to home have nothing but a trash bag to carry their belongings. Thanks to thoughtful donors like you, children in care are given a proper way to move their personal items when transitioning.  This gesture offers comfort to children during a stressful time in their lives.

We appreciate your dedication and support to the children and families in our community.  Thank you!
