American golf fans get abusive at Ryder Cup final with insults and beer-throwing
Golf's reputation as a quiet, classy, gentleman's game certainly took a hit at the recent Ryder Cup final in the U.S. when American spectators went full pro-wrestling fans on eventual winner Rory McIlroy and his Euopean team. American fans were abusive and even thew beer at McIlroy's wife - something I've never seen during a golf fame - not that I watch often, but fans are usually very respectful At least they used to be!
Article excerpt: "The abuse directed at Rory McIlroy and the rest of the European team at the Ryder Cup "crossed the line", says PGA of America chief executive Derek Sprague.
McIlroy was the main target of abuse at Bethpage as Europe held off a late comeback from the United States to seal a 15-13 victory.
The abuse increased on day two of the tournament as Europe opened up a seven-point lead.
While McIlroy was subjected to verbal abuse, his wife Erica was hit by a drink thrown by an American fan on the 17th tee.
'It's unfortunate that people crossed the line last week,' Sprague told the Golf Channel., external
'There's no place for that at the Ryder Cup, no place for it in the game of golf and we are not happy with what happened last week.'
McIlroy described the abuse as 'unacceptable' and said it should be 'off-limits'."
Let's hope these outbursts were the exception to the rule. Golf is usually so peaceful to watch on TV. Let's hope it stays that way.

Are all reusable grocery bags the same at Canadian retailers? Nope!
If you're like me, the backseat or trunk of your vehicle is usually filled with reusable grocery bags. They all look different. Some are old. Some are new. Some are your favourites. Some are not. And half the time you forget them before entering the store.
Don't you just love that?
CBC Television's Marketplace consumer affairs show is back for another season and tested reusable bags from a number of Canadian retailers.
Article excerpt: "They're taking over your cupboards, the backseat of your car and your kitchen: Reusable grocery bags.
With plastic bag bans at all levels of government across Canada, shoppers are faced with a plethora of choices at the grocery store. Is it better to grab the flimsy cloth T-shirt-style bags, or shell out for a heftier tote? Marketplace set up a test to find out.
The Canadian government counts bags containing plastic as reusable if they can withstand 100 trips of 53 metres each while carrying 10 kilograms, without breaking or tearing.
Although this regulation is on hold while the plastics industry challenges it in court, Marketplace wanted to find out which bags sold at Canadian stores met that benchmark. We purchased bags from Sobeys, Real Canadian Superstore, Dollarama, Walmart and Metro, and tested a single-use plastic bag for comparison.
On a running track in Whitby, Ont., student athletes were each assigned a bag, and a selection of commonly purchased groceries weighing 10 kilograms. To simulate a typical trip to the grocery store, students would unpack and repack the bags with groceries every 53 metres.
Seven out of 12 bags failed the test, including the single-use plastic bag."
Which ones passed the test? The results may surprise you! I know they surprised me!

AI-generated actress "Tilly Norwood" getting blasted left, right and centre throughout Hollywood
I don't have anything against AI. I use it in some of my own creative processes. But an AI actress? I mean, maybe. I think. Perhaps? No? Yes? I don't know how I feel about this. One thing is for sure, many industry people in Hollywood are not thrilled with the idea of an AI-generate actress being treated like she's the real deal.
Article excerpt: "Hollywood is facing a new kind of star power with 'AI actor' Tilly Norwood, who doesn’t exist outside of code - and she’s already negotiating with talent agencies.
Norwood is a character made entirely by artificial intelligence, dubbed Hollywood’s first 'AI actor.' She is the product of a company named Xicoia, which bills itself as the world’s first artificial intelligence talent studio.
Since Dutch producer and comedian Eline Van der Velden launched the digital character’s prospective career, Norwood has been the talk of Hollywood.
Earlier this month, Van der Velden, founder of the AI production studio Particle6, promoted Norwood at the Zurich Summit, the industry sidebar of the Zurich Film Festival. She said Norwood was in talks with talent agencies and that she expected to announce a signing soon.
'We were in a lot of boardrooms around February time, and everyone was like, ‘No, this is nothing. It’s not going to happen.’ Then, by May, people were like, ‘We need to do something with you guys,” Van der Velden told Deadline’s Diana Lodderhose.
'When we first launched Tilly, people were like, ‘What’s that?’ and now we’re going to be announcing which agency is going to be representing her in the next few months.'
But not everyone is excited about Norwood potentially signing with a talent agency."
Can an AI-generated actor win an Oscar, Emmy or Golden Globe? Now, there's a dilemma! I would think not, but will there be a category made for them? Isn't an AI-generated actor just an animated character that looks more realistic than, say, Homer Simpson? Can they be treated like a real person rather than a brand, i.e. Betty Crocker? Can they sign a contract?
My head hurts just thinking about it.

Trivia: Did you know?
A group of cobras is called a "quiver" - which is probably what you'd be doing if you came across a group of cobras! Perhaps a "poop-in-your-pants" of cobras wasn't deemed classy enough as a term, but it's likely just as accurate!
