Policy Change for Better Outcomes
As we work toward our 2030 bold goal to put 11,000 more young people on a path to upward mobility, ROC the Future Alliance is collaborating with national policy partners to champion key initiatives.
Last month, Brian Lewis, ROC the Future Alliance Executive Director, met with Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, who represents the Eighth Congressional District of New York. Representative Jeffries serves as the Democratic Leader in the U.S House of Representatives. This invitation came from Congressman Joe Morelle and TogetherNow, both conveners with ROC the Future Alliance.
During this meeting, we discussed critical measures for change. Policy partners create the systemic change needed to ensure every child succeeds. In partnership with TogetherNow, we continue to champion parents and youth at the center, to drive strategy and codevelopment of solutions to improve kindergarten readiness, attendance rates and early grade literacy.
Both Brian Lewis and Sara White Smith, whose new title is ROC the Future Alliance Collective Impact Director, have been invited to serve as board members of TogetherNow.
As a valued partner, they have trained our staff and parents in project management so we can optimize our systems for better outcomes.
If you are a young person who is interested in connecting with us to co-develop solutions and lead systems change, please contact us at info@rocthefuture.org to join our Youth Leadership Coalition. We are accepting applications now for our next cohort.
