Dear Residents of Lone Tree –

The City of Lone Tree, together with the Park Meadows Metro District, began work on the design of the Brick Wall Analysis project to replace deteriorating brick walls throughout the City. Since the brick walls are City-owned assets, the replacement will be managed by the City with a share of funding coming from the District. This past May, in partnership with the Park Meadows Metro District, the City gathered input, through a survey, from impacted residents and neighborhoods on preferences for brick color, wall cap materials, and construction timeline. The feedback from the survey is one of several factors that will be considered as the final design of the project is completed.

Residents from the following neighborhoods were requested to complete this survey: Lone Tree Terrace, The Charter, Vista, Ridgeview, Terra Ridge, Prominence Point, Country Club Estates, Cypress Green, Fairways 39, Muirfield, Centennial Ridge, and Carriage Club.

The City received 624 responses, of which 192 responses were received from households that are adjacent to brick walls.

Survey Results

Brick Color Preference

  • Mix of colors: 49.7%
  • Single color: 40.5%
  • No preference: 9.8%

Nearly half of respondents preferred a mix of colors, suggesting a desire for a varied appearance, while a significant portion favored the consistency of a single color.

Wall Cap Material Preference

  • Natural stone cap: 47.1%
  • Precast concrete cap: 43.1%
  • No preference: 9.8%

Preferences were nearly evenly split, with natural stone caps slightly more favored, indicating resident interest in both natural aesthetics and practical materials.

Construction Timeline Preference

  • Shorter duration with higher disruption: 54%
  • Longer duration with lower disruption: 22.8%
  • No preference: 23.2%

Most participants expressed a willingness to endure more disruption in exchange for quicker completion of the project.

Next Steps

Here's what's coming up next for the Brick Wall project:

  • Wrapping up design survey work at each wall panel
  • Beginning the next phase of design
  • Finalizing cost estimates based on all options
  • In the Fall 2025, staff will be sharing the initial designs, cost estimates, and phasing plans with residents for review and comments.

These survey responses offered valuable community input that will help inform the City’s planning process. However, it is important to note the survey is just one step in a broader decision-making process. Final decisions will also consider factors such as cost, durability, and long-term maintenance.

On behalf of Public Works, the City of Lone Tree thanks all the residents who participated in the survey and we’ll continue to keep the community informed and involved as the project moves forward.
