For those traveling through the I-10 corridor, the recent sights and sounds of heavy machinery signal a major turning point. This milestone is much more than just another box checked on the project schedule. It is the new bridge’s foundation taking root in Southwest Louisiana.
To fully appreciate the significance of this step, it helps to understand what pile driving actually entails. A "pile" is a long, incredibly durable structural element, typically made of heavy steel or reinforced concrete, that is driven deep into the ground to provide a stable base for massive structures.
