Project Baseline Schedule Set

With major construction slated to begin in spring 2026, stakeholders can expect continued updates as the project transitions from planning to execution — bringing improved safety, connectivity, and economic opportunity to Southwest Louisiana.

Open Houses Provided Opportunity to Speak Directly with Project Team

Two open houses were held in November to provide the public with an update on the construction schedule and impacts of the new I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge.

More than 100 people attended the open houses held Monday, Nov. 17 at the Managan Center in Westlake and at the Lake Charles Event Center on Wednesday, Nov. 19.

Participants could watch project videos, peruse various exhibits, and ask the project team any specific questions they had.

A major utility upgrade is happening beneath your feet

As part of the I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge Replacement Project, several underground utilities, previously scattered and in conflict with the new corridor alignment, are being consolidated into a single, shared duct bank.

This streamlined infrastructure not only clears the way for bridge construction but also improves long-term maintenance access and reduces future disruptions. This is a key step in preparing the corridor for transformation, and utility relocation work is already underway.

Did You Know

An Active Transportation Allowance is in place for bicycle and pedestrian facilities on either end of the I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge. This connectivity is not a mandatory part of the project and is contingent upon the approval of LA DOTD. These facilities will be incorporated within the design-build limits which are not otherwise covered by LA DOTD Complete Streets requirements.
