Kern National Network for Caring and Character in Medicine Grant Leads to UCSF Cooke Award
|
|
|
|
Erica Brode, MD, MPH, UCSF Associate Professor, Family Community Medicine, and Family Medicine Clerkship Co-Director, received the UCSF Cooke Award for the project titled, “Faculty Development Series for Volunteer Community Preceptors in the Family and Community Medicine Clerkship.” Erica was the lead author for a group of UCSF and UC Davis medical education scholars.
This research project was developed as part of the Center for Faculty Educators Learning and Caring Environment (LACE) program that seeks to improve the clinical learning environment with the goal of supporting clinical faculty to co-create learning environments that optimize learning and well-being for all involved. The work was funded by the Kern Family Foundation as part of UCSF’s grant with the Kern National Network for Caring and Character in Medicine. Vice Dean Catherine Lucey is UCSF’s principal investigator on the grant.
The LACE program is run by Sandrijn van Schaik, Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, and Joey Bernal, Program Manager, CME and CFE.

Patricia O'Sullivan, EdD Receives the UMC Utrecht 2022 Honorary Harmen Tiddens Medal
|
|
|
|
Patricia O'Sullivan, EdD, Professor of Medicine and Surgery, and Director, Research and Development in Medical Education, was recognized for her contributions to health professions education by UMC Utrecht. On June 2, O'Sullivan delivered her Harmen Tiddens Grand Lecture titled, "Creating an Educator Community in an Academic Health Environment".

Medical Education is recruiting a project manager to guide anti-oppression programs and curriculum. The Project Manager, Anti-Oppression Programs and Curriculum will work across teams of faculty, students, and staff to help UCSF achieve institutional anti-oppression goals by applying in-depth knowledge and experience in project management and diversity, equity, and inclusion projects.

Save the Date: Academy of Medical Educators Celebration of New Members
Event Dates: September 21, 2022
Event Time: 3:00pm - 5:00pm
Event Details: The Annual Celebration of New Members honors the incoming Academy Class of 2022 and recognizes the contributions of health professions education staff and "front line" teachers and educators who impact our learners on a regular basis to make UCSF such an outstanding health care institution.
The keynote address will be delivered by Tricia Rose, PhD, Chancellor's Professor of Africana Studies, Director of the Center for the Study of Race and Ethnicity in America, Brown University.

Join a School of Medicine Summer Book Club
Event Dates: Various through August
Event Details: As an outcome from the School of Medicine leadership retreat, the school is sponsoring book clubs for any faculty or staff member who is interested in reading one of the retreat's pre-read books about culture.
The book clubs will be facilitated by some of the school's leaders and promise lively discussion and the opportunity to get to know more of your colleagues from across the School of Medicine.
