Class of 2022 Celebrates Commencement
In-person for First Time Since 2019
On May 12, 2022, the UCSF School of Medicine graduating class of 2022 joined together with loved ones, leadership, faculty, and staff, for the first in-person commencement ceremony since 2019. It was a spirited celebration that honored the 148 graduates who showed courage, creativity, and determination as they completed the first step of their medical education during a pandemic.

UCSF Medical Student Honored with U.S. Public Health Service Excellence in Public Health Award
Third-year medical student Kyle Lakatos recently received the U.S. Public Health Service 2022 Excellence in Public Health Award in recognition of his commitment to advocacy, community engagement, and promoting health and health care equity in partnership with marginalized and underserved populations.
Long-Term Student Research and Faculty Mentorship Celebrated at Inquiry Symposium & Awards Ceremony

Ten medical students were recently recognized for their contributions to substantive, long-term scholarly exploration of a topic related to human health with Dean's Prizes in Deep Explore or Yearlong Research. Five faculty mentor awardees were honored for their dedication to training students to generate new knowledge as 21st Century Physicians. Congratulations to the finalists!
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Two DEI Anti-Oppression Webpages Launch

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Anti-Racism and Belonging and Anti-Oppression Curriculum Initiative webpages launched in April. These pages were developed in collaboration with the Student National Medical Association leadership board and the AOCI-Student Collaborative to provide transparency about and openly communicate the School's progress toward our Anti-Oppression Charter goals.

Behind the ScenesWho Will Fund and Where Can You Disseminate Your Education Scholarship?

Event Dates: June 29, 2022
Event Time: 12:00pm - 1:00pm
Event Details: The final session of the Academy of Medical Educators "Behind the Scenes" series will summarize the previous sessions which addressed planning research, networking, writing, and educator identity. This session will also explore the role of various funding sources, review the importance of presenting and publishing your work, and highlight the benefits of identifying the appropriate outlets to reach your audience.

All faculty (including non-AME faculty) are invited to attend. The event is being held via Zoom and the session will be interactive and conversational.
