THIS WEEK'S MESSAGE

We all, at times, can become discouraged by the darkness we see in our modern world and wonder if it will ever get better. The good news? The letter to the Corinthians provides us with surprising hope. They faced a culture far more immoral than ours, yet they laid the groundwork for a dramatic future renewal. This week we’ll see where Paul instructed them to begin and what it means for us today.

NEWS AND EVENTS

All are invited to learn more about Los Altos Christian School right here on campus! LACS will host an Open House this Sat., Oct. 19, 10:00am-noon. Current elementary families are also welcome to attend to explore what the LACS middle school program has to offer. The October 20 and 27 messages will cover topics that may not be suitable for younger children. Parents should read 1 Corinthians 5, 6, and 7, and make the best decision for their families. Children always have the option to be in our nursery, preschool, or elementary environments, and will have plenty of time to leave the service in advance of any sensitive content.

We offer our condolences to loved ones of longtime member Pam Monk, who passed away on October 11. Please remember her family in your prayers.

Adult singles are invited to the Anew Life Group, which meets one Saturday each month from 5:30-8:00pm at Bridges in the Family Center. Through examining chapters of the Bible, sharing of testimonies, and small group discussions, we grow our faith in Christ and learn to apply Biblical principles to our daily lives. We also cultivate a safe space for fellowship, where we can share authentically, support one another, and build quality relationships with other singles.

Our next Lunch with a Mission will be on Sun., Nov. 10, in the Family Center right after the worship service. Kick off the Christmas season with treats and music featuring the Bridges Orchestra, Choir, and LACS Students! Festivities will be held on Sun., Dec. 8, at 5:00pm in the Worship Center.

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

There are so many ways to serve at this year's Fall Family Fun on Fri., Oct. 25, and we need everyone's help! No matter your gifts and abilities, there's something you can do to make this a memorable night for the community.

RealOptions Obria Medical Clinics, one of our ministry partners, will hold their annual Ignite Life event on Sat., Nov. 2, 5:00-8:00pm at Calvary Chapel in San Jose. They are in need of ushers, greeters, and registration volunteers, and we at Bridges can help! Click the button below to learn more about the volunteer positions and times. Join MUCH Hope as they serve local homeless at a shelter in San Jose by providing monthly dinners. Lots of help is needed whether it's for 30 minutes or 2 hours! Volunteer to drop off supplies at Bridges, or help cook in the Bridges kitchen on a designated Sunday. For questions, email sujana.panthulu@gmail.com.

Bridges’ Deaconess and Deacon Boards are recruiting volunteers to join in the important mission of hearing the word and doing what it says (James 1:22) along with the combined need for faith and action (James 2:16). Our Deaconesses continually support the Bridges family in ways both seen and behind the scenes, and we hope to grow the Deacon Board to similarly serve and also partner with the Deaconesses on joint projects. Have you been looking for ways to serve with other dedicated people? Whether you’d like to send an encouraging note, visit someone in the hospital, give a ride, or something else that excites you, only sign up when you are available and in areas where you want to contribute.
