THIS WEEK'S MESSAGE

Good. True. Right. Faithful. Honorable. Trustworthy. Admirable. We likely know people who live up to these characteristics, and we hope to be among them. But how are they actually developed in us—especially when some amount of corruption seems so much easier? This week we will see God’s desire to develop goodness and faithfulness in us, and how He accomplishes it. 

NEWS AND EVENTS

We were blessed to share such a joyful day this past Sunday at our Annual Celebration! As we reflected together on this past ministry year, we are filled with gratitude for the countless ways God has moved within our Bridges family. Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us! A special thanks to everyone who served at our potluck, brought a dish to share, helped with the preparations, and stayed to clean up. It truly was a wonderful time of fellowship, filled with delicious food! We're excited to begin another year of ministry with each of you.

Our next Lunch with a Mission will be this Sun., Sept. 29, in the Family Center right after the worship service. Our guest speaker will be one of our mission partners, Dr. John Houlette, who will also lead a workshop this Fri., Sept. 27 (see the announcement above for details). Dr. Houlette has served for 42 years in Japan with WorldVenture and A3 (formerly Asian Access), offering Christian leader care, training, counseling, mentoring, and education. Our Bridges family prays together every week at three different times. We’d love to have you join us, even if you can only get away from other things for a few minutes. When we come before God’s throne of grace to find mercy and help in our time of need, God hears our prayers and always answers.

We invite you to join any of our prayer groups:

Los Altos Christian School invites you to their next Parent Education Workshop on Wed., Oct. 2, 6:30-7:30pm in the Bridges Family Center. Christian Counseling Centers will discuss “The Impact of Silicon Valley Culture on Children & Adolescents,” addressing issues including identity and self-image, the impact of stress, and emotional regulation and coping skills. Register today to join this critical conversation. Childcare is available if you register in advance.

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

Join MUCH Hope as they serve local homeless at a shelter in San Jose by providing monthly dinners. Lots of help is needed whether it's for 30 minutes or 2 hours! Volunteer to drop off supplies at Bridges, or help cook in the Bridges kitchen on a designated Sunday. For questions, email sujana.panthulu@gmail.com.

Bridges’ Deaconess and Deacon Boards are recruiting volunteers to join in the important mission of hearing the word and doing what it says (James 1:22) along with the combined need for faith and action (James 2:16). Our Deaconesses continually support the Bridges family in ways both seen and behind the scenes, and we hope to grow the Deacon Board to similarly serve and also partner with the Deaconesses on joint projects. Have you been looking for ways to serve with other dedicated people? Whether you’d like to send an encouraging note, visit someone in the hospital, give a ride, or something else that excites you, only sign up when you are available and in areas where you want to contribute.
