PRIN. JAMES 2016
SEASON'S GREETINGS!

This is officially our last regular school week of 2016. Friday will also mark the end of the second quarter and the 1st semester of 2016-2017. On Monday, December 12th we begin to administer 1st semester Common Final Exams. Please  find attached here a copy of the daily bell schedule for this week.

In reviewing our attendance results for the early part of December (chart below) I was most pleased with the gains from November and would like to thank our Bobcats and their parents/guardians for making a real effort to be in class each day. While we only five school days remaining in the calendar year, every day of instruction counts as the FLDOE state assessments next spring will be here before we know it. Thank you so much for your support with both daily attendance and on-time arrivals.

I hope you will enjoy this current issue offering a snapshot of the week that was. Happy Holidays to you and your family!

Mrs. Lisa James
Principal

Our Bridgewater Community Steps Forward for the Holidays!

Some of the toys and gifts donated to help families in need this Holiday Season. Our National Junior Honor Society students organized a wonderful program and successfully collected over 400 toys. Thank you to everyone that pitched in to help these children at this very special time of year!

BWMS staff with employees of Spectrum who really stepped up to help a number of BWMS families this season!

One of the Spectrum vehicles on campus this past week . . . maybe not Santa's sleigh, but the impact will be the same. Thank you!
Curriculum
Current examples of 'rigor in the classroom' across the campus . . .

Mrs. Leisher is conducting a science lab with her students (Dec. 2)

This is the 'Common Board Configuration' from Mrs. Leisher's science class on Dec. 2, 2016. The day is completely broken down for the students to include notes on what Florida state standards will be covered that day, learning goals, learning activities, and reading homework.

Miss Sandore, BWMS art teacher, working closely with several students this past week

This is the Common Board Configuration (CBC) from Miss Sandore's classroom on Dec. 8th. The CBC is effectively a roadmap for her class. In this instance, she had four 'Essential Questions' marked up that the students were to answer depending on whether they were 2D art or 3D art students. For example, the 2D art students needed to understand what a 'value scale' was and how a shape can be turned into a form using cross-matching. This is important as these students have been learning how to draw.
ELL Parent Night
Thank you to Mystic Pointe Apartments for hosting this evening!

Mrs. Sarmiento (CCT) is seen here speaking to parents about ELL requirements, testing and tutoring for students in the community room at Mystic Pointe apartments.
