GIRLS VOLLEYBALL DISTRICT CHAMPIONS!

Congratulations to Coach Cason, Coach Bleeker, and our Girls Volleyball Team on winning their 4th consecutive District Championship last week. This is a remarkable series of championship victories and these young athletes and their coaches deserve all the credit for their tireless efforts and commitment throughout the 2017 season. Congratulations Bobcats!

Congratulations are also in order to  Ms. Rudzik, Mr. Cooper and our Advance Band Students for their fabulous winter concert last week (pictures below). The students put on a wonderful performance that really captured the spirit of the Holiday Season. Thank you!

As a reminder, this is only a four-day school week for the students. There is no school on Friday, December 22. The teachers will still be on campus that Friday completing second quarter grades. The students will return from their Winter Break on Monday, January 8, 2018. If you are leaving home over this holiday period, please travel safely and remember to buckle up.

On behalf of the administration of Bridgewater Middle School, Season's Greetings!

World History with Mrs. Madison

The above is a snapshot of Mrs. Madison's "Common Board Configuration" for her World History class from this past Friday, December 15th. The learning goal for that day: "Students will be able to analyze and explain life in Egypt and early rulers' contributions and achievements." This goal supports FLDOE social studies standard 6.W.2.5. On this date she also administered a test and requested that for homework, the students bring all missing assignments current with the second quarter fast coming to a close (Thursday, December 21).

Monday's Motivational Moment

FINDING HAPPINESS

Once a group of 50 college students was attending a seminar held by a well known professor.

Suddenly the professor stopped and started giving every student a balloon. Each one was asked to write his/her name on it using a marker pen. Then all the balloons were collected and put in another room.

Now these college students were let in that room and asked to find the balloon which had their name written, within 5 minutes.

Everyone was frantically searching for their name, pushing, colliding with each other, and there was utter chaos.

At the end of 5 minutes, no one could find their own balloon.

Now each one was asked to randomly collect a balloon and give it to the person whose name was written on it. Within minutes everyone had their own balloon.

The professor began: This is exactly happening in our lives. Everyone is frantically looking for happiness all around, not knowing where it is. Our happiness lies in the happiness of other people. Give them their happiness and you will get your own happiness.

The lesson for our Bobcats? Helping others without any expectations makes our lives comfortable, easy and happy. So . . .  it's not finding happiness, it's a way of creating happiness.
