Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District

Serving the Communities of Bridgewater Township and Raritan Borough

Greetings, and welcome to the latest edition of our district newsletter

I want to welcome students and staff back to our schools after what was hopefully a restful winter break.

As we begin the second half of the 2023/24 school year, the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District continues to reinforce our commitment to the fundamental values that shape our school's identity – respect, kindness, and responsibility. Unfortunately, there have been recent instances of hate speech within our community, a direct contradiction to these stated values. I want to emphasize that hate speech has no place in our school, as it undermines the very fabric of a safe and nurturing learning environment. As a school community, any allegation of hate speech is investigated immediately, and police are notified if the incident rises to the level of a potential hate crime.

If you encounter or become aware of any instances of hate speech, please report them promptly to an administrator, teacher, or counselor. I encourage parents and guardians to speak to their children about this critical topic to reinforce these principles. I hope that we embrace our shared responsibility to create an inclusive environment that exemplifies the values of the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District.

One important aspect of a safe and nurturing learning environment that our children deserve is community investment and involvement. Raritan Borough and Bridgewater Township residents approved three referendum questions in 2023 that clearly signal that our communities are invested in our students and school district. The new year brings a significant opportunity for community involvement when Bridgewater-Raritan residents can participate in our strategic planning committee. This committee provides the opportunity for the entire community to weigh in on the future direction of our schools. Please read on for more information and spread the word to join in this district initiative.

Strategic Planning

The Board of Education invites you to participate in a Strategic Planning initiative with your neighbors, community members, friends, teachers, students, and school district administrators to create a shared vision for the future of the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District.

The New Jersey School Boards Association will facilitate this process.

We will create a shared vision for the district, discussing its strengths, the challenges we face, and ways to tackle those challenges. We are inviting staff members, parents, guardians, students, community leaders, and other interested members of the public to contribute their thoughts, ideas, and hopes – so that we can effectively plan for the future of our students.

I encourage you to participate in any or all three of our meetings.
