Message from the Superintendent

There is rarely a time when an opportunity presents itself that will have the learning impact equivalent to creating a full-day Kindergarten experience for our students. As an educator, I am excited to work with our dedicated teachers and other educators to build the highest-level foundational school experience for our youngest learners. If the voters approve the funding for additional teaching staff on November 7, 2023, the Kindergarten program will be reimagined to align with best practices in reading, writing, mathematics, science, social studies, and our related arts content areas. With this change, we would also realign our schools to be K-3, 4-5, and 6-8, which will allow us to improve the effectiveness of our instruction and extracurricular offerings.

Combined with the renovation of our district facilities approved by the voters in March 2023 and essential program changes to support excellent educational opportunities for all students, this initiative will create generational change for the students and residents of the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District.

School Security

This year, the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District added five security personnel, bringing our security detail up to the following levels:

  • Two Security Directors
  • Nine Campus Monitors (district personnel who are retired police officers) Two of these individuals served as Class III officers employed by the Bridgewater Police Department during the 2022/23 school year.
  • Two School Resource Officers (resource officers are active duty police officers assigned to the schools)
  • Three Class III officers. (Class III officers are retired law enforcement officers hired by Bridgewater Police Department to patrol schools)

The District security team was comprised of two resource officers and three Class III officers two years ago. In a brief time, the district has increased our security footprint by eleven. Our security footprint has improved exponentially, and the district is proud to have a strong rapport with our local police departments.

A public security presentation is planned for September 26 at the next BOE meeting. The meeting will begin promptly at 7:30 p.m. at the Wade Administration Building, 836 Newmans Lane, Martinsville, NJ.

Please make it a point to attend or watch remotely.
