Serving the Communities of Bridgewater Township and Raritan Borough

Greetings, and welcome to our final newsletter of 2024,

I hope this message finds you well after our shared Thanksgiving weekend. As we approach the midpoint of the school year, I encourage you to collaborate with your student and their teachers to ensure a productive conclusion to 2024. The new year allows us to reassess our efforts and correct our course if necessary. Please join us in reflecting on the positives from 2024 and focus on our shared challenges, goals, and commitment to continued progress in 2025.

This year has significantly changed the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District as our referendum projects progress rapidly. We are committed to fulfilling the promises made to taxpayers with the approval of the 2023 referendum. During the summer and fall, the district completed several projects, including:

- Renovations to Basilone Field (Field House and Grandstand)

- Power upgrades in multiple primary schools

- Restroom renovations at the middle school

- Phase one of our window replacement project

- Security upgrades, including the installation of secure vestibules throughout the district

- Media center upgrades in several schools

We will provide the community with an update on projects scheduled for 2025 in our January newsletter, including the addition of the Bradley Gardens cafeteria (rendering pictured above).

Please remember that while we are improving our facilities, supporting academic achievement and the wellness of our students remains a top priority. Enhancements to educational programming, student and faculty support, and overall wellness continue to be central to our mission as a district. We have much to be proud of in Bridgewater-Raritan, and we will keep working to ensure we remain one of the top school districts in the State of New Jersey.

Best Regards,

Robert Beers

B-R Theatre Arts will present "Radium Girls" December 5-7

Bridgewater-Raritan High School Theatre Arts will present its Fall Play, Radium Girls, performed on Thursday, December 5, Friday, December 6, and Saturday, December 7, in the high school’s auditorium.

Radium Girls is D.W. Gregory’s gripping drama based on the true story of female laborers who were poisoned and killed by their factory’s radium-based paint in New Jersey’s Essex County. Though the story of Radium Girls ranges from 1918 through the 1940s, most of the narrative is centered on events in New Jersey in the mid-1920s.

First Induction Ceremony is held for Quill & Scroll

Honor Society

Growing popularity in the study of journalism has resulted in the arrival of a chapter of the Quill & Scroll, the International Honorary Society for High School Journalists, to Bridgewater-Raritan High School.

The first induction ceremony was held in the high school's auditorium on Monday, November 25, when the Co-Editors-in-Chief of The Prowler, Isabel Lu, and Paritosh Bhole, were the first students to be enshrined into the Society. The Prowler's Co-Advisors, Bruce Moran and Victor Smoke performed the duties during the ceremony.

The emergence of The Prowler as a viable and reliable news source at the high school, as well as the introduction of a new course study, Sports Journalism, this school year, are among the factors that led to the launching of the chapter of the Quill & Scroll at Bridgewater-Raritan High School.

A second induction ceremony of the school year is expected to be held this spring.
